Supergirl hasn’t suffered a lack of recognizable DC characters, occasionally borrowing a few faces from her famous cousin’s world to trade blows across National City. Now, Kara Zor-El will come face to face with a bit of both, going up against a Bizarro superhero of her very own.

While Superman fans easily recognize the “Bizarro Superman” inversion of DC’s greatest hero, it seems Supergirl will meet her own backwards counterpart. Per TVLine, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg spoke on Kevin Smith’s Fatman on Batman podcast to reveal that the series would introduce a Bizarro twin character, without necessarily specifying which, though a Bizarro Supergirl seems the most obvious target.

Then again, Kreisberg only said the word “Bizarro” (around the 52:50 mark below), which could well imply Superman’s direct counterpart, and perhaps explain the casting of a young Kal-El seemingly out of sync with his and Kara’s respective ages, ostensibly via cloning shenanigans.

For those unfamiliar with the concept, Superman comics first introduced the concept of a “Bizarro Superman,” with various origins, though typically featuring a rocky, gray-skinned version of the character with comparable abilities, limited intelligence, and a telltale speech pattern. Smallville most recently featured the character in live-action, while it remains unclear how Supergirl will introduce its own Bizarro, or for that matter, Kara’s.

In the meantime, Supergirl will return on January 4 with “Blood Bonds,” picking up on Kara’s battle with Kryptonian villain Non.
