Cool Riffs On The Twitter Bird: Wolverine, Yoda, Fry and More

Just as it forces users to think in 140 characteres, Twitter's tiny avatar space requires a bit of inspired design to keep images iconic. That's why comic book and video game fans searching for a new look might be pleased to see Adam Koford a.k.a. Ape Lad's ("Laugh-Out-Loud Cats") fresh Twitter bird-based images.

Koford's Flickr stream is loaded with characters including Yoda, Buzz Lightyear, Wolverine and Link from the Windwaker segment of the Legend of Zelda series. It's also a great place to check out some of the artist's other work, including his multiple comic strips.

Koford isn't some fly-by-night avatar designer either; the artist stands by his work and is currently using his avatars himself at his own Twitter profile, which is something of a testament to their handcrafted care. He's not only the spokesman, he's also a client and all that.
