Dark Horse’s Usagi Yojimbo Plush Doll Is Too Cute For Words
That cute and cuddly plush version of T-Rex from "Dinosaur Comics" may have finally met its match when it comes to indisputable adorability: none other than Usagi Yojimbo, the warrior bunny created by Stan Sakai.
Dark Horse has announced that they will be releasing a Usagi Yojimbo plush doll as part of the character's 25th anniversary, and boy, is it c-u-t-e! Honestly, all of the years of hard work getting me to overcome my initial impressions of a roaming ronin rabbit as anything but darling are completely torn asunder. How could you possibly feel threatened by Usagi's presumably fluffed-and-stuffed visage?
Cuteness aside, there is at least one supremely cool aspect of the doll that we can all agree upon: Sakai himself is largely responsible for the plush's design, providing "extensive reference art" throughout the production process.
"I have always thought that a doll of this type would be an excellent presentation of Usagi," Sakai is quoted as saying in Dark Horse's press release, "and have been happy to assist as the prototype evolved with commentary and revisions. I think he came out very well indeed."
He did, Mr. Sakai. Especially if you intended him to be, oh, I don't know, just about the cutest fighting samuraibbit I have ever seen in my entire life, ever.
