‘DuckTales’ Reboot Reveals David Tennant, All-Star Cast Singing Theme
DuckTales fans probably think about that iconic theme more-so than anyone notable names among the original cast, but the 2017 Disney XD reboot has you covered either way. Not only is David Tennant our new Scrooge McDuck, but so too do SNL and NBC stars debut in a new video singing that famous theme!
In addition to Jessica Jones star and Who favorite Tennant as Scrooge, the new video reveals Bobby Moynihan as Louie, Ben Schwartz as Dewey, Danny Pudi as Huey, Kate Micucci as Webby, Toks Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley, and Beck Bennett as Launchpad McQuack.
Now set for a summer 2017 premiere, the first season will also consist of twenty-one half-hour episodes and two hourlong specials, with Matt Youngberg serving as executive producer beside story editor/co-producer Francisco Angones, and Gravity Falls art director Sean Jimenez.
The original Emmy-winning DuckTales ran from 1987-1990 as part of The Disney Afternoon daily cartoon block, which went on to spawn Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, Talespin and 1990 theatrical movie, DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp. Disney Television Animation will produce the new version, which features a fan-favorite cast of Scrooge McDuck, grandnephews Huey, Dewey and Louie and Donald Duck, along with Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell and Poe, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys, Mrs. Beakley and Webbigail Vanderquack.
Disney has yet to set a specific date for its new DuckTales beyond summer, but stay tuned for the latest details.
