The received wisdom about your favorite Doctor from the various iterations of Doctor Who is that most people prefer the one they grew up with, or the first one they encountered. Your first Doctor is the one who established what the Doctor is meant to be. In that regard, Tom Baker's Fourth Doctor has an advantage, simply because his unmatched seven year tenure in the role made him a presence in more people's childhoods.

Even without that statistical advantage, Baker's Doctor still towers above his peers from the original series in terms of reputation and affection --- and his most enduring companion, Sarah Jane Smith, is still one of the most popular companions, brought to the screen by the late and beloved Elisabeth Sladen in multiple series. So it's no surprise that Titan's next Doctor Who mini series, following on from those spotlighting versions of the Doctor most recognizable to modern audiences, will bring back the Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane for brand new adventures.

'Gaze of the Medusa', from Judge Dredd writers Gordon Rennie and Emma Beeby and Twelfth Doctor artist Brian Williamson, will pit the iconic pair against a prehistoric alien and something called a Scryclops on the streets of Victorian England.

The series kicks off in March 2016. Check out the variant covers below:

And here's the full skinny, via Titan:

Titan Comics and BBC Worldwide are pleased to announce a brand-new mini series starring the Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith, as played by Tom Baker and the late Elisabeth Sladen.

This series expands Titan Comics’ hugely popular and critically acclaimed Doctor Who comics line, which already includes adventures from the Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors.

Entitled ‘Gaze Of The Medusa’, the five-part series will hit stores in March 2016 and will be penned by Gordon Rennie (Missionary Man, Judge Dredd) and Emma Beeby (Witch Hunter, Judge Dredd) with art by Brian Williamson (The Twelfth Doctor, Spider-Man, X-Men).

The all-new adventure is set in Victorian England, where a mysterious woman commands a hidden army in a house of the blind. Scryclops stalk the streets...and something alien and terrible screams from prehistory – with a hunger that cannot be satisfied!

Issue #1 will come with six covers to collect: a painted cover by fan-favorite artist Alice X. Zhang; a photo variant; art covers by artists Brian Williamson, Jay Gunn and Matt Baxter; and a blank sketch variant.

Doctor Who: The Fourth Doctor #1 debuts in comic stores and on digital devices from March 2016.
