It's been a while since we've seen anything new from Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá's The Umbrella Academy, but for fans of the Dark Horse series and its bizarre bunch of superpowered orphans, Way has offered up a pretty timely Christmas present over the past few days. Not only has he confirmed that he and Bá are planning to have Volume 3 and Volume 4 out in 2014, he's also been posting concept art for new characters on his Twitter account for the past few days.

Check out the art, featuring new characters called Gas Panic and St. Zero below!

According to way, these are the initial designs that Ba will be refining for the actual series, and I couldn't be more excited to see where it goes. I have a vivid memory of being even more judgmental than I am now when Umbrella Academy was first announced, rolling my eyes at the very idea that the frontman from My Chemical Romance was going to start dabbling in comics. When the first book actually came out and I read it, and found it to be an awesome title that fit right in the middle ground between X-Men and BPRD, I had to do some pretty serious word-eating. The first volume ended up being one of my favorite comics of the year, and a huge chunk of that was because of the beautiful designs for the characters.

Other than "2014," Way, Bá and (presumably) Dark Horse have yet to provide any release date or information, but we'll definitely be keeping an eye out for the series in the weeks to come.
