‘Ghost in the Shell’ Gets Animated With New Character Motion Posters
Blockbuster movie season is officially upon us, kicking off this week with the release of Logan and continuing all month long with a flurry of major (no pun intended) titles: Beauty and the Beast, Kong: Skull Island, and, last but far from least, Ghost in the Shell — the live-action remake starring Scarlett Johansson, who has surprisingly (but delightfully) become the queen of sci-fi. We’re unlikely to get a new trailer between now and the end of March, but how about some new motion posters to help you get acquainted with the film’s cast of characters?
Paramount unveiled the full series of motion posters, each featuring a different member of Section 9, the elite task force headed by Johansson’s Major — a human-cyborg hybrid and skilled special ops soldier tasked with stopping the most dangerous criminal elements in the city.
Scarlett Johansson as Major
Chin Han as Togusa
Yutaka Izumihara as Saito
Danusia Samal as Ladriya
Lasarus Ratuere as Ishikawa
Tawanda Manyimo as Borma
Pilou Asbæk as Batou
Takeshi Kitano as Daisuke Aramaki
Here’s the official synopsis:
In the near future, Major (Scarlett Johansson) is the first of her kind: A human saved from a terrible crash, who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world’s most dangerous criminals. When terrorism reaches a new level that includes the ability to hack into people’s minds and control them, Major is uniquely qualified to stop it. As she prepares to face a new enemy, Major discovers that she has been lied to: her life was not saved, it was stolen. She will stop at nothing to recover her past, find out who did this to her and stop them before they do it to others.
Ghost in the Shell also stars Juliette Binoche and Michael Pitt, and hits theaters on March 31.
