‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Animated Series Drops Full Poster and Premiere Schedule, You’re Welcome
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy may have a new volume of cinematic adventures in their future, but we’ll see Star-Lord and co. much sooner than that in animated form. Now primed for a September premiere, Disney XD’s animated Guardians have a brand-new poster, full roster of premiere dates, and a new tricked-out synopsis with some of the Marvel universe’s biggest names!
IGN managed to obtain the full poster for the new Guardians of the Galaxy series, now prepping for a September launch on Disney XD, rather than the initial 2016 projection. In addition to that trademark Guardians humor, the new poster also gives a better look at the team, including Will Friedle’s Star-Lord, David Sobolov’s Drax, Vanessa Taylor’s Gamora, Kevin Michael Richardson’s Groot and Trevor Devall’s Rocket Raccoon.
Not present in the image, but also cast for the animated Guardians of the Galaxy is James Arnold Taylor as both Yondu and Cosmo. As if that weren’t enough, check out the full premiere schedule, which includes multiple character shorts leading up to September, an early September 5 sneak peek, and a proper premiere on September 26:

Had enough? No? The full synopsis for the series teases the Guardians’ new adventure, also throwing a certain Asgardian trickster into the mix …
[Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy] follows the newly-formed team who finds a strange artifact keyed only to the DNA of Peter Quill. Upon opening it, Quill unleashes a treasure map leading to a powerful weapon known as the Cosmic Seed which is capable of giving birth to the next universe. It’s up to the Guardians to find, protect and ultimately destroy the Cosmic Seed in order to keep it out of the hands of those who would abuse its power, from galactic big boss Thanos, to the conniving brothers the Collector and the Grandmaster, to a resurrected Ronan, to the ultimate trickster, Loki, in order to save the universe.
We’ll get a fresher taste of the new series from Comic-Con 2015, but does the new animated series sound like a worthy follow-up to its filmic inspiration? What should we hope for from the Guardians, while we wait for the team to return to theaters in 2017?
