Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have been crucial to the MCU, writing screenplays for the Captain America films in addition to Thor: The Dark World. It makes sense that the two would continue their work well into Phase 3. Not only are they re-teaming with Joe and Anthony Russo for Captain America: Civil War, but the pair will now also write both parts of Avengers: Infinity War, making them the rug that ties the room of the MCU together.

Civil War is set to really shake things up in the MCU, dividing our heroes into two conflicting factions in the lead up to Infinity War. With the Russos on both projects, bringing Markus and McFeely along feels like the right decision. The pair have been involved in key parts of MCU’s story development, and although Civil War is technically a Captain America film, it’s an integral part of the larger MCU plan.

Badass Digest reveals that Markus and McFeely are officially stepping up to write Infinity War, which once again pairs them with the Russos for the last films in Marvel’s Phase 3. This news reinforces how strongly linked Civil War is to Infinity War, and how important the former is to paving the way for the latter.

In addition to writing all three Captain America films and Thor: The Dark World, Markus and McFeely are also the creators of Agent Carter — all of which makes them two of the very best, most valuable assets Marvel has.

Captain America: Civil War arrives on May 6, 2016. Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 hits theaters on May 4, 2018, followed by Part 2 on May 3, 2019.
