Later this year Matt Fraction, along with twin artists Gabriel Bá and Fábio Moon, will return to the world of Casanova, the trio's highly regarded creator-owned series and a ComicsAlliance favorite. This would be welcome news on its own, but there's now an added bonus for followers of the series, as earlier today Fraction announced that Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Michael Chabon will be joining the creative team for the upcoming installment, writing back up stories to be illustrated by Bá.From Fraction's website:

When CASANOVA returns at the end of the year, the main story by Moon and me will be backed up by shorts created by Michael Chabon and Bá.

He keeps saying "Like TALES OF ASGARD" and I'm not sure if he's kidding or not.

It's no secret that Chabon is a comics fan. While he has some comics work under his belt, the writer's biggest claim to fame among comic readers, and most anyone familiar with the writer's work, is The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. Chronicling the story of two Jewish cousins who create a comic book character named "The Escapist," the novel is a love letter to the Golden Age of superhero comics. Chabon based the character Joe Kavalier, and the comic book hero he co-creates with his cousin, on the early life of industry legend Jim Steranko, who himself trained as an escape artist before his comics career began.

This upcoming series will be the fourth installment of Casanova, a multi-dimensional espionage epic that tells the story of Cass Quin, a freelance thief and member of the of the world-class spy organization E.M.P.I.R.E.

There's no word yet on an exact date or title for the new series, but it is tentatively set to launch under Marvel's Icon imprint at the end of 2013.
