There’s a New Aqualad in Town and He Digs Seashell Jewelry
From Harley Quinn to Renee Montoya, DC Comics has a pretty successful tradition of crossing its animated characters over into comic book continuity. Unlike his contemporaries, however, the all-new Aqualad's animated debut in Cartoon Network's "Young Justice" this fall will be preceded by a comic book introduction in next week's "Brightest Day" #4.
Writer/DC honcho Geoff Johns fleshed out the new hero at DC's The Source:
I won't tell you much yet, but I will tell you – he has no idea he's about to become Aqualad. In fact, he lives in one of the driest places in America – Silver City, New Mexico.
Looking at the two Aqualads side-by-side, I have to admit the "Young Justice" version seems more imposing. If the comic book version dropped the seashell necklace, he'd probably have a clearer edge, although its unclear if both versions of the character will sport that crazy water/light/energy hand.
