New ‘Batman Arkham Origins’ Trailer Showcases ‘Knightfall’ And ‘Batman ’66’ Skins [Video]
Warner Bros. Games Montreal has released a new trailer for the upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins game, revealing two alternative looks for Batman that will only be available for Sony's PlayStation 3. As announced at E3 earlier this year, the Knightfall pack will allow gamers to play as classic Adam West Batman from the 1966 TV show, or as goofy light-up-armor Azrael Batman from the 1993 comic crossover Knightfall.
The Knightfall pack also includes five bonus challenge maps inspired by the Knightfall storyline; "Azrael Does Not Protect", "City on Fire", "No Rest For the Wicked", "Venom Connection" and "Turning Point". The first three are Combat Maps, in which players try to build up hit combos while fighting wave after wave of opponents. The latter two are Predator Maps, in which the player tries to pick off opponents from the shadows.
Arkham Origins is a prequel to the two previous hit Batman games, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. The new game traces the early years of Batman's career and explores the origins of many of his villains. The game's gritty tone makes it a good fit for Azrael's typically over-the-top '90s pouch-and-pointy-things look, and a profoundly peculiar fit for Adam West's Batman, who was never quite this nimble or violent in any of the episodes we remember. It seems unlikely that the developers will also reskin Catwoman as Eartha Kitt and Harley Quinn as Aunt Harriet. But we're on-board if they do.
Batman: Arkham Origins is released October 25th for Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on October 25, 2013.
