American fans of Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist are still waiting for the final installments of the 27-volume manga from Viz, but speedier Japanese fans who wrapped the series in June of 2010 have some brand new FMA content to look forward to in June. According to Anime News Network, a new one-shot entitled "Prototype" will see print in the July issue of Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine.Created as a component of Monthly Shonen Gangan's wider 20th anniversary celebration, "Prototype" marks the first new FMA content since Arakawa printed a short side story this past September.

The timing of the new manga content is also ripe considering the release of Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Stars of Milos, the movie sequel capping the latest Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime is scheduled to open in July in Japan.

There's no word yet on when either "Prototype" or The Sacred Stars of Milos will see release in the US, but if the past is any indication Viz and Funimation, respectively, won't tarry too long.
