As anticipation continues to build toward the long awaited release of Batman: Arkham City on video game systems around the world, Warner Bros. has begun promoting the game's soundtrack with The Raveonettes' "Oh, Stranger." The first track we've yet heard from Batman: Arkham City - The Album, the song features the amounts of noisy guitars and pulsing beats required to break virtual heads with maximum enjoyment. You can listen to "Oh, Stranger" after the cut."We tried to stay away from anything old or too obvious and created a modern action-packed, if you will, adventure," Raveonettes singer and guitarist Sune Rose Wagner told Spinner. "None of us are really gamers but I certainly used to be when I was younger so I definitely wrote with that in mind."

The Raveonettes – "Oh, Stranger"

When the Arkham City soundtrack was announced earlier this month, it was believed that the broader Batman mythos was to inform the sounds and lyrics of each contributor's song. The only words in the Raveonottes' "Oh, Stranger" are...

Catch me a stranger if you can

Give me everything you have

A stranger ain't nowhere to hide

I see death in your eyes

...which don't seem to be explicitly tied to Batman, but the Swedish Danish shoegazers did create a track that you can imagine being performed by some cool local kids in any number of underground nightspots in Gotham City. It's a great little tune and an auspicious first shot from what could have very easily been another Batman soundtrack disaster along the lines of R. Kelly's "Gotham City."
