Rob Liefeld Blasts Fox on Twitter Over Deadpool Movie
As is his wont, comic book creator Rob Liefeld has taken to Twitter to level some devastating blows to the latest subject of his ire: 20th Century Fox, whom Liefeld implored to "find your balls." The studio is developing a film based on Liefeld's character Deadpool, an endearingly psychotic, horribly disfigured and razor-sharp-witted mercenary whose incredible popularity in the last ten years has been a source of both joy and consternation for comics industry observers. The character appeared totally unrecognizable in the form of Ryan Reynolds in Fox's viciously awful critically panned 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Reynolds is meant to reprise the role in a new solo Deadpool film.
The recently leaked Deadpool script by Zombieland writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese has been met with strong approval by the Nerd Hive Mind that is the Internet, whose collective judgment is that this version of Deadpool is much more faithful to that seen in a laughably large number of Marvel Comics series over the years. It is this hopeful screenplay and painful memories of X-Men Origins: Wolverine that seems to have prompted Liefeld's passionate pleas for quality, strength, and testicular fortitude.
