Sergio Aragones Brings the ‘Funnies’ to Bongo Comics

Although in his seventies, Sergio Aragonés shows no signs of slowing down. The legendary cartoonist of Mad Magazine and Groo the Wanderer will soon launch a new ongoing series at Matt Groening's Bongo Comics called, aptly enough, Sergio Aragonés Funnies. While the master has been working in a relatively traditional narrative mode for quite a while with various The Simpsons titles for Bongo, Funnies will be a direct dose of anarchic Aragonés straight into the brain.

Shipping monthly starting in July, Sergio Aragones Funnies will be a sort of comic book piñata for Aragonés fans, featuring all-new work in a wild assortment of flavors.
Each issue offers an assortment of autobiographical anecdotes, perplexing puzzles, slap-happy short stories, as well as Sergio's unique and hilarious pantomimes and gags. With this new series, the world's most beloved cartoonist continues to prove that humor is truly a universal language!
Fans of Aragonés' Simpsons work need not worry, for the cartoonist will continue to work on those Bongo titles as well, as the company co-founder Bill Morrison told Comic Book Resources back in December.
