Sony’s Spiderverse is steadily growing. With plans for at least one Venom movie announced last week, the wheel of spinoffs has been set in motion. Today, the studio announced it was working on a team-up movie with heroes Silver Sable and Black Cat, with a script by Chris Yost, who’s one of the writers of Marvel’s upcoming Thor: Ragnarok.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the untitled project is kicking off with a screenwriting veteran of the MCU, after Westworld’s Lisa Joy submitted the first draft of the script. It was previously known as “secret female spinoff project,” but now we know it’ll focus on the characters Silver Sable and Black Cat, two characters who both have a history either aiding of impeding our arachnid friend.

Silver Sable is a mercenary who hunts war criminals, and who is some times friend and sometimes foe to Spider-Man. She was created in 1985 by Tom DeFalco and Ron Frenz, and heads the Wild Pack, an organization of other mercenaries based in the small (fictional) European state of Symkaria. Sony was actually developing a Silver Sable solo movie last year, but it looks like they’ve decided to give her a buddy. Or a frenemy. You never know with these two.

Black Cat is a world-famous cat burglar who totally isn’t DC’s Catwoman, no way, crazy talk. After suffering a traumatic event as a teen, she trained herself in various martial arts and acrobatics and decided to follow in her father’s cat burglar-y footsteps. She has limited superpowers (a bit of probability manipulation, much like the mutant Domino), a very cool enhanced suit, and a somewhat romantic history with Spidey. She’s actually been in a Spider-Man movie before: Felicity Jones played “Felicia Hardy” (Black Cat’s real name) in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but, given that Sony is rebooting the universe, she probably won’t be returning to the character. Maybe, but probably not.

Sony doesn’t have a set release date for the movie, as their first priority after the script will probably be a director and a cast. Chris Yost also worked on Thor: The Dark World, as well as a bunch of animated Marvel TV shows like The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Wolverine and the X-Men.
