Elektra Returns In Soule And Buffagni’s ‘Daredevil’ #6 [Preview]
A lot has happened to Matt Murdock since returning to New York; there’s no Foggy or Kirsten, no-one remembers that he’s Daredevil, and he has a brand new sidekick called Blindspot. Following the recent battle with the villainous cult-leader Tenfingers, Daredevil’s world is set to get rocked once again as his first love Elektra returns, and we’ve got a preview from Marvel of Daredevil #6 by Charles Soule and Matteo Buffagni.
The current volume of Daredevil has been a huge tonal shift from the acclaimed Mark Waid/Chris Samnee run that preceded it, with Ron Garney’s art on the first arc setting the tone. The vibrancy that Matthew Wilson brought to the previous run is gone, and only the red remains, a bold choice by Garney and colorist Matt Milla that sets Daredevil apart from pretty much every superhero book on the stands.
While at first glance the current run on Daredevil brings to mind the iconic work of Frank Miller that redefined the character, it actually owes a lot more to one of the most underrated Daredevil runs, that of Ann Nocenti and John Romita Jr. Their stories featured Daredevil fighting Mephisto in hell and battling a demonic technorganic vacuum cleaner as part of Inferno, and the current run has a villain named Tenfingers who has guns that have nine triggers each.
Hopefully Daredevil remains one of the most secretly barmy books on the stands with its next arc, which brings Elektra back to New York following her own solo series last year and a live-action appearance in the Netflix series. Check out the preview below!
