Stan Lee Anoints Austin’s First Superhero!
When I decide to get away from the Internet for a day or two, evidently, the universe punishes me for taking a break. While I was away, during last Thursday's finale of the Sci-Fi Channel's Who Wants to be a Superhero?, Stan Lee chose fellow Austinite Jarrett Crippen, aka The Defuser, to be his "newest" superhero, beating out the likes of Hyper-Strike and Hygena.
Seems Jarrett had a calling to be a well-chiseled hero and a standout leader: He's been a police officer for the past 15 years and currently serves as an instructor at the Austin Police Academy! And, he'll be making his first convention appearance this November at Mid-Ohio-Con. His ultimate reward is one for geek posterity: A Dark Horse comic written by Stan Lee and an action figure devoted to The Defuser!
Enjoy Jarrett's awesome ascension to superhero stardom by watching the season finale of Who Wants to be a Superhero? at SciFi.com. If you don't have the time, watch the origin (audition tape) of this superhero -- previously known as Takedown -- unfold in this short YouTube video.
