Marvel's Star Wars titles have provided a lot of hits for the publisher, and later this year Kieron Gillen and Jason Aaron will team up for their second Star Wars crossover in a five-part story that plunges the casts of Star Wars and Doctor Aphra into a Gothic horror adventure appropriately titled Screaming Citadel.

Announced via StarWars.comStar Wars: Screaming Citadel sees Doctor Aphra coming to Luke Skywalker for help locating the titular castle and convincing him that unlocking the secrets of the citadel will advance his path to become a Jedi. It won't just be Aphra and Luke the whole way, as both books' fan-favorite casts will be along for the ride, including Han, Leia, Sana, and the murderous droids Triple-000 and BT-1.

The crossover begins with a one-shot written by Gillen and penciled by Marco Checchetto, before spinning off into the two core titles. The Star Wars parts of the crossover will be written by Jason Aaron, with art by Salvador Larroca and Edgar Delgado, while the Doctor Aphra issues will feature art by Andrea Broccardo and Antonio Fabela.

This is the first Star Wars crossover in two years, following 2015's action-packed Star Wars: Vader Down. In the announcement interview, Kieron Gillen compared the two.

In Vader Down, the idea was, “Can you describe it in a way that would make people get why they want to read that story?” In this it’s like, “Luke Skywalker and assorted friends in a gothic-horror adventure,” and your mind goes, “Oh, that’s interesting. I get how that will work.” It’s the pop-song nature of the form, I think.
