Kevin Smith ‘Supergirl Lives’ Synopsis Teases Roulette, Harley Quinn (Smith)
Kevin Smith will return to the DC TV-verse a third time for Supergirl’s 2017 premiere, and he’s brought Harley Quinn with him. Not that Harley Quinn, mind you, but his daughter, who forms the centerpiece of a new synopsis for our “Supergirl Lives” midseason premiere.
The CW released a first synopsis for January 23 return “Supergirl Lives” (a reference to Smith’s infamous Superman Lives movies script), in which the title character and Mon-El travel off-world in search of a missing girl (Smith). Dichen Lachman’s Roulette is also back in the mix, while the full synopsis reads:
KEVIN SMITH DIRECTS; ROULETTE RETURNS
Kara (Melissa Benoist) is moved by the story of a missing woman named Izzy (guest star Harley Quinn Smith) and decides to investigate despite Snapper Carr’s (guest star Ian Gomez) order to leave it alone. Kara takes Mon-El (Chris Wood) with her to the last place Izzy was seen and the duo find themselves thrust through a portal to another planet, Slaver’s Moon, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves. The leader of the trafficking ring is none other than Roulette (guest star Dichen Lachman).
To make matters worse, Slaver’s Moon has a red sun, which means Kara and Mon-El are stripped of their powers and stuck on the planet with no way home. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Alex (Chyler Leigh) blames herself for Kara’s disappearance, fearing she’s become too focused on her new relationship with Maggie (guest star Floriana Lima) and too complacent in watching out for her sister.
Also on deck for the back half of Supergirl Season 2, we know DC trickster Mr. Mxyzptlk will be dropping by for two episodes, while another (or the same) pair of episodes will see Kara re-teaming with The Flash for a musical extravaganza. We’ll also revisit Livewire and Metallo, meet up with those pesky Dominators again, and hopefully check in with Calista Flockhart’s Cat Grant.
In the meantime, watch the first trailer for Kevin Smith’s “Supergirl Lives” below, and stay tuned for more from Supergirl’s 2017 return.
