Superhero Renaissance Mashup Paintings

A few years back, Worth1000 had a photoshopping contest where it asked readers to combine superheroes and Renaissance paintings in interesting ways. The result were hugely entertaining -- particularly if you have any familiar with the originals -- and io9 has collected a list of its favorites, including a "Starry Night"/batsignal mashup that is just begging to made into a background.
