Like DuckTales before it, Disney XD’s Big Hero 6 animated series has yet to declare an official premiere, but there’s good news in store. Prepare a hearty fist-bump for a Season 2 renewal, while a new teaser and photo highlights the returning cast.

Disney’s Big Hero 6 animated series roped in a surprising number of the original movie’s stars to reprise their roles, but how long until the team gets back to bumping fists? A first teaser for the animated superhero sequel promises a fall 2017 premiere, and even a cookie.

It still remains to be seen if Disney and Marvel’s Big Hero 6 will ever get a second life in theaters, but the upcoming 2017 animated continuation is no slouch when it comes to casting. Not only will stars like Maya Rudolph and Scott Adsit return, so too will Sherlock and The Walking Dead stars join the mix.

Screen & Page usually looks at great anime that has made the transition to the manga page, but this week we're making another exception, this time for a North American animation that also made the jump to manga, Big Hero 6. Big Hero 6 is not an anime, and the presence of Japanese characters or an anime-derived aesthetic certainly doesn't make it an anime. But it is the highest-profile Disney animated film to get a manga adaptation, and the first to get its own promotional manga ahead of release. Plus, the title's journey from page to screen to page again --- a journey that never would have happened without the 1990s anime boom --- is fascinating.

Well-received though Disney’s Marvel-ous Big Hero 6 was back in 2014 (it won the freakin’ Oscar), there hasn’t been very much followup by way of a sequel. Now, Disney XD promises to continue the adventures of Hiro, Baymax and the team in a new 2017 TV series, but what might it mean on the movie end?
