I know we've all been waiting very patiently, but the day is finally upon us. Comics based on James Cameron's Avatar are finally coming next year on Free Comic Book Day! The comic book adaptation of the smash-hit blockbuster that everyone loves and remembers is just one of twelve Gold Titles as part of FCBD's 2017 celebration, which also includes Rick & Morty, Doctor Who and X-O Manowar. Announced today, Free Comic Book Day 2017 will be celebrated across the world on May 6th, and as usual the big name publishers, including Image, IDW, Boom, Oni and Titan, all have offerings as part of next year's crop of Gold Sponsor titles.

The question most often asked of the ComicsAlliance staff is a variation of, "Which comic books should I be reading?" or, "I'm new to comics, what's a good place to start?" The Wednesday deluge of new comic books, graphic novels and collected editions can be daunting even for the longtime reader, much less for those totally unfamiliar with creators, characters and publishers, and the dark mysteries of comic book shopping like variants, pre-ordering, and formats.

Boom Studios has a reputation in the comics industry for publishing an increasingly diverse group of books and creators. This commitment to diversity in genre and people is reflected in an all-new initiative the publisher announced today in Previews with a letter from founder Ross Richie. While 2015 is the 10th anniversary of Boom, the publisher wants to talk about what's next rather than what's come before. They call this discussion of the future Push Comics Forward and they don't want it to be only about Boom. Push Comics Forward is Boom's way of focusing on the ongoing conversation about diversity and the future of the industry. To learn more about this initiative and what to expect from Boom for the next ten years and beyond, we spoke with Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon.

Kate Leth And Jake Myler Talk 'Fraggle Rock'
For most of a certain generation, the TV show Fraggle Rock is a beloved childhood memory. Beyond its basic and undeniable Henson charm, it was also a show with a lot of smart, complex lessons for kids and adults. For this reason -- as well as because some of those children have now grown up to be parents -- it's no surprise that comics publisher Archaia jumped at the chance to publish Fraggle comics. Now that Archaia is a part of Boom Studios, the publisher's approach to Fraggle comics has shifted a little, with the first-ever Fraggle Rock comic miniseries, Fraggle Rock: Journey to the Everspring. Written by Kate Leth and drawn by Jake Myler, it's the longest Fraggle comic yet. ComicsAlliance sat down with thes creators to talk about making Fraggle comics, working with Henson, creating new characters, and, of course, their favorite Fraggles.

Boom! Announces New York Comic Con 2014 Exclusives
New York Comic Con is right around the corner, and if you're planning on heading to Manhattan's Javits Center next weekend, the good people at Boom! Studios want to give you as many chances to part with your money at Booth 1344 as they possibly can. To that end, they're offering up a slate of pretty amazing looking variant covers, including a beautifully painted wrap-around cover for the Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake hardcover and an NYC-specific image where Jake Lawrence's Teen Dog takes a ride on a cosmic subway. My personal favorite, though, is the first issue of Sleepy Hollow, the tie-in to the amazingly bonkers Fox television show, which features Abbie and Ichabod charging through the forest with a hot pink lantern, as drawn by Lumberjanes co-creator Noelle Stevenson. It is basically amazing.

On February 19, Boom! Studios will celebrate two years of Adventure Time comics as the ongoing series' 25th issue arrives in stores. It's a milestone for Boom!, and especially writer Ryan North and the art team of Shelli Paroline and Braden Lamb, who have been working together consecutively for the full run aside from issue #5 (which was drawn by Mike Holmes -- but hey, Paroline and Lamb needed a
