Walt Simonson, Laura Martin and John Workman's Ragnarok is an epic in every sense of the word. It's the story of Thor --- the Norse god, not any other comic book characters of the same name that you might be thinking of when you hear the words "Walt Simonson" --- returning to life as a rotting but vengeance-driven warrior in a world that's already seen its apocalypse and forming an uneasy alliance with a dark elf assassin sent to finish him off for good. If you're not sold already, you can read an exclusive preview right here, in which Thor's alliance with Regn gives way to an agreement that one of them is more than likely going to kill the other, assuming they both survive for the next 40 pages.

It's been a while since we've seen an issue of Walt Simonson, Laura Martin and John Workman's Ragnarok, but that doesn't mean that I've forgotten for a second how awesome it is. If you somehow missed the first six issues, it's an epic that marks Simosnon's return to Thor --- just not the Thor you probably associate with him. Instead, Simonson is drawing more heavily on Norse mythology for the story of a world after the battle at the end of all things, where Asgard is in ruins, the enemies of the Gods have taken over the world, and Thor himself is barely clinging to life, driven by duty and revenge. Needless to say, it is basically amazing. Next week, the series returns to kick off its second arc, as a Dark Elf assassin sets out to finish the job and kill Thor for good. Miles Morales Finds A New Home in Waid and Asrar's 'Avengers'
Whatever the Marvel Universe looks like after Secret Wars, we now have confirmation that Miles Morales is a part of it. The final members of Marvel's post-Secret Wars Avengers roster were revealed this morning, and as just about everyone had guessed, the figure front and center is Miles Morales, the Ultimate Spider-Man. He joins a team that also includes Iron Man, Vision, Captain America (Sam Wilson), Thor (current version), Nova (Sam Alexander), and Ms Marvel. All of which most people had also already guessed. The creative team for the Free Comic Book Day comic that introduces this team has been revealed as Mark Waid, Mahmud Asrar and Laura Martin; presumably they'll also be the creative team on the title proper.

Five Reasons To Read Walt Simonson's 'Ragnarok'
I like to think I do a pretty good job keeping up with what's out on the stands, but somehow, some way, I managed to completely miss IDW's Ragnarok from Walt Simonson, Laura Martin, and John Workman, until just this week --- and believe me, I'm kicking myself for it. Ragnarok offers action-packed high adventure and sweeping storytelling from some of my favorite creators in comics, with a story that hooked me from the first page. Of course, the bright side to coming late to the book is that I managed to catch up on the first three issues all at once rather than wait, and with how much I loved it, I'm pretty sure the bimonthly schedule that the book seems to be on would've been a nightmare. If you've been on the fence about picking up Ragnarok, here's five good reasons to give it a shot.

Comparing 'Super-Flare' To Superman's Other New Powers
I think we can all agree that if there's one problem with Superman, it's that he doesn't have enough powers. Now, at long last, this glaring oversight is about to be remedied. In this week's Superman #38, Geoff Johns, John Romita Jr., Klaus Janson and Laura Martin are adding another weapon to the Man of Steel's arsenal for the never-ending battle against the forces of evil, and on top of that, a new costume to go along with it. As for just what that new power is, all we really have is a name provided by an infographic sent over by DC Comics: Super Flare. The good news is that art chosen for the infographic gives us a look at what this new power might involve, but the bad news is that the infographic is woefully incomplete.

Review: Marvel's New 'Star Wars' #1 By Aaron & Cassaday
Star Wars and Marvel Comics have a long history. A Marvel adaptation of the original sci-fi-fantasy film appeared in April 1977, a month before A New Hope dominated multiplexes in May of the same year. The success of the film as well as the comics led to a volume of over 100 issues over a nine-year span, featuring stories about what happened to the heroes of the Rebellion between their big screen adventures. Following Marvel parent Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm, this week sees the return of the Star Wars Universe to the Marvel banner, with a new ongoing series from Jason Aaron and John Cassaday launching on Wednesday. It's a strong debut from an A-list creative team who manages to capture the feel of George Lucas's film A New Hope while still taking advantage of the entirety of the Saga.

We're less than a week away from the launch of Marvel's Star Wars line with the first issue of, hey, Star Wars, by Jason Aaron, John Cassaday, and Laura Martin, so Marvel has put out a couple of sneak peaks of the issue -- one lettered, one unlettered. We've helpfully brought them together so you can enjoy more of the story of fan favorite character Overseer Aggadeen and... the cast of Firefly, I think? I don't really know Star Wars; sorry. Star Wars #1 is an officially in-continuity comic (for now, anyway!) that picks up directly after the end of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, following the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow in the wake of the destruction of the Death Star. Finally, a sequel to Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope! I can't believe they've never done that before.

We'll miss the mighty Steve McNiven on Marvel Comics' recently relaunched Captain America series, but it's difficult to imagine a better replacement than the legendary Alan Davis. The veteran superhero comics artist of such works as Captain Britain, Excalibur and JLA: The Nail joins writer Ed Brubaker for a brand new storyline beginning in December's Captain America #6...
