The eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano in Iceland (say that three times fast, or at all) is throwing up volcanic ash and electricity in a visually spectacular display of what they're calling "dirty thunderstorms." I don't entirely know what that means, but hot. There are some insanely amazing pictures of the phenomenon that basically look like the end times crossed with what we imagine the upcoming "Thor" feature film will look like, and we were particularly taken by the photographs of Patrick Mylund Nielsen.

Our own illustrious Chris Sims, however, cannot help but see comic book magic wherever he casts his eyes, and so when he looked deep into the dark plumes of ash, fraught with twisted veins of lightning, he didn't see a spectacular natural disaster -- but rather the face of pizza-loving, nunchaku-wielding old friend.
