Since essentially the very moment that the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie was public knowledge, it's been an object of intense fan skepticism. Would the characters look weird, what with their strange new origin story? What will the CGI/live action hybrid look like in action?

Well, there are now actual images of character designs for the turtles and a heavily-armored Shredder from the Jonathan Liebesman-directed movie in their pixel-perfect glory. Judge for yourself.

The new turtles have a lot of extra clothes beyond their usual headbands, knee pads, belts, and elbow pads, (is Under Armor a product placement sponsor or what?) but they look a lot closer to the original thing than some people were speculating. Shredder, on the other four-fingered hand, looks like Megatron in the face. In fairness, his look isn't too much of a departure from his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II "Super Shredder" getup. Perhaps he starts out more streamlined and hulks out later in the flim?

But how will they look in action? Fans will just have to wait for a trailer to drop between now and the movie's August 8 release.

UPDATE: The images have been removed from the internet (sorry if you missed them), but more pictures of all four turtles have surfaced, which you can view here.
