It seems like only yesterday that Nickelodeon bought the rights to the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" franchise. Today comes word of another major move involving the "TMNT" and some surprising Hollywood faces: the forces behind Platinum Dunes - namely, Michael Bay - are producing a new live-action "TMNT" film.

Let that sink in for a minute. Michael Bay. Michael Bay of "The Rock," "Armageddon" and, most importantly and relevantly, the "Transformers" films. Going into this, we have a good idea of what we can expect: a massive Technodrome explosion, racially stereotyped versions of Beebop and Rocksteady, and Shia LaBeouf as Shredder's estranged teenage son. At least we know Megan Fox won't play April O'Neil.

Sure, Bay isn't necessarily directing the film. I'll even admit that I like a lot of his work, but his style isn't appropriate for every franchise - certainly not the "Turtles," in my opinion. But what do you think? Is this terrible news or oddly awesome? Let us know what you think in the comments.Source: Deadline
