Last week's post about The Governator was met by the ComicsAlliance audience with a measurable degree of incredulousness. For some reason, you thought a new comic book and animated series created by Stan Lee and based on the life of movie star and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger sounded like an early April Fools' joke. We can assure you it was not, and we've got the first trailer to prove it.

Below you will see the newest vision from Stan Lee, creator of some of America's most beloved pop culture icons; you will see how one of the most important political leaders of this age has chosen to extend his legacy after leaving office; and you will hear the music of the Black Eyed Peas.As we reported previously, The Governator is a new comic book and animated series that depicts Schwarzenegger's post-political career as a high-tech superhero. We realize that the title, "Governator," may be somewhat confusing, but Schwarzenegger made sure to explain it to Entertainment Weekly.

"The word Governator combined two worlds: the world of politics and the movie world. And [this cartoon] brings everything together. It combines the governor [and the] the Terminator."

Got it?

As for the video, it features, as promised, Schwarzenegger operating a superhero-style operation out of a tricked-out cave beneath his mansion in Los Angeles, assisted by a group of young children. It is unclear how exactly the Governator -- whose identity is apparently secret despite the fact that he's called the Governator, not wearing a mask, and one of the most famous human beings who's ever lived -- actually bikes to San Francisco in time to stop an armored car robbery, but we've enough faith in the writing of Stan Lee to expect that to be sorted out by the time the series premieres on some channel sometime in late 2012.
