It feels like it's been forever since the first season of The Legend of Korra ended, and to be honest, I was starting to worry that it wouldn't be coming back. Fortunately, we can now rest easy in the knowledge that everyone's favorite Avatar is on her way back. Tomorrow, Nickelodeon is launching the Legend of Korra: Enhanced Experience, a free app that'll give fans a peek at the upcoming season -- including character designs for Korra's iceberg-throwing cousins.

The app is also set to feature storyboards and animatics, but for now, here's a look at the new characters from Book 2. First up, Desna and Eska, Korra's cousins:

That's Desna on the left. Here's the official bio:

DESNA (Waterbender), ESKA (Waterbender)

Korra’s cousins are sixteen year-old twins who have a strange connection and seem to communicate without saying a word.  They’re both Waterbenders, and when they work together they can accomplish amazing feats, such as shooting entire icebergs at opponents.  Korra has always found them incredibly annoying because they look down on her for being a rube from the South, even though she’s the Avatar.

Next up, shipping magnate and facial hair enthusiast Varrick, presumably not to be confused with the Dragon Age character of the same name:

VARRICK (non-bender)

Billionaire shipping magnate from the Southern Water Tribe.  He’s a little eccentric, but very charismatic.  He spends most of his time traveling the world on his monster yacht and living a fabulous lifestyle.  Born a poor seal-hunter’s son, he built his business from a single canoe into a global power.  A consummate dealmaker, he’s always looking for angles to expand his business empire.  He is currently making a deal with Asami to become Future Industries’ shipping partner. There are rumors that he deals with underworld characters and gangsters if he thinks it will turn a profit, but that has not been verified.

The app is set to launch tomorrow, July 2 at itunes.com/Korra, but if you're heading to San Diego for Comic-Con, there'll be more information about the show at the Legend of Korra panel on Friday, July 19, from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM in Ballroom 20.

Personally, I plan to ask why they don't just drop all this avatar nonsense and focus on the next thrilling season for the Fire Ferrets.
