Over the course of the past month or so Valiant Entertainment has been teasing the announcement of a project featuring live action actors, but the exact details have been kept under wraps until now.

Today at New York Comic Con, the publisher unveiled a new division known as Valiant Digital, aimed at creating digital-first short film content, and debuted the trailer for a blockbuster six-part webseries titled Ninjak vs The Valiant Universe.

The webseries sees the publisher partnering with Aaron and Sean Schoenke of Bat in the Sun Productions to create what it refers to as a "bone-breaking, action-packed battle royale that will rival anything seen on broadcast TV." The decision to go straight to short-form digital content is an attempt to target an emerging demographic not currently catered to by comic book publishers.

In the words of Valiant's chief operating officer, Gavin Cueno:

"In years past, it wasn’t uncommon for comic book publishers to prime new fans by expanding into Saturday morning animation or short-form programming. Today, that demographic has largely migrated online. With the launch of VALIANT DIGITAL and, soon, NINJAK VS. THE VALIANT UNIVERSE, Valiant will become the first major comic book publisher to create original, short-form content for the digital arena – and, with it, introduce our characters to one of the most engaged and passionate communities anywhere.”

The series stars Arrow's Michael Rowe as Colin King, AKA Ninjak, as he takes on a host of fan-favorite characters played by actors well known to fans of genre television. Among the cast are Jason David Frank as Bloodshot, John Morrison as The Eternal Warrior, Chantelle Barry as Roku; Kevin Porter as Armstrong; Ciera Foster as Livewire; and Derek Theler as X-O Manowar; with more stars to be revealed.

Ninjak vs The Valiant Universe is written by Aaron Schoenke, Sean Schoenke, and Joe Harris and produced by Dinesh Shamdasani, Josh Johns, and Gavin Cuneo, for Valiant Entertainment. The webseries is set to debut online in late-2017.
