Check Out Wacom’s First Comic Featuring New Work By Ming Doyle, Meredith Gran, Ulises Farinas And More
Available for free right now is Pressure/Sensitivity, the very cleverly titled inaugural anthology project produced by Wacom. The book is a natural step for Wacom to make, as makers of the tablet technology used by an increasing number of comic book artists to create their work. Because Pressure/Sensitivity: An Awesome Comics Anthology is edited by former ComicsAlliance editor Caleb Goellner (currently Wacom's Social Marketing Specialist), it comes as no surprise that the book is populated by contributors well known to CA readers for their distinctive styles and technical prowess: Ben Sears, Giannis Milonogiannis, Ming Doyle, Meredith Gran & Mike Holmes, and Ulises Farinas & Ryan Hill.
Named for the operating nature of Wacom's tablet interface, Pressure/Sensitivity features creator-owned stories crafted around that broad theme and using the technology in question. Commercial illustrator and comics artist Sears offers a sweet and yet mysterious tale of touch-activated portals into another world; Old City Blues and Prophet cartoonist Milonogiannis brings a tongue-in-cheek take on artificial life and alien invasion; The Kitchen's Doyle uses the platform to indulge her more fantastical interests with a fiery adventure of mythic proportions; Octopus Pie creator Gran and Secret Coders' Holmes tell an incredibly cute but incredibly harrowing story of the pressure chickens are under to lay eggs; and Judge Dredd: Mega City Two artists Farinas and Hill go all out with a cover of pop cultural references doing their thing in a sea of Wacom tablets. The book is wrapped up in graphic design by Dylan Todd of Avengers A.I., Sacrifice, and numerous Monkeybrain Comics projects (and also a CA contributor).
