‘Walking Dead’ Visits The Kingdom in Maddeningly Unhelpful S7 Photos
Will characters from The Walking Dead Season 6 and prior appear in Season 7? You betcha! Will at least one of them die in the premiere? Probably! You might not know it from the first official round of Season 7 photos, however, which follow the trailer’s lead to reveal almost no one but Carol, Morgan and our new friend Ezekiel!
Entertainment Weekly debuted a fresh round of photos, largely consisting of images glimpsed in the trailer, as Morgan and Carol survey their new surroundings at “The Kingdom,” as hosted by King Ezekiel (Khary Payton). There’s some fresh walkers in there as well, a worried Jesus, and what appears to be Negan’s first trip to Alexandria.
Plus, Khary Payton himself on hippie-dippie Ezekiel!
He’s in the business of not losing himself to his surroundings. I don’t let things get me down. I brighten the things around me in that it’s a party when you’re going to be around him, and whether it was a party there before it’ll be a party by the time he leaves. I love even his relationship with the zombies themselves. He’s a guy who doesn’t think of them as having a physical disease. It’s more that their joy was robbed from them, and that he’s one of the few people left on earth whose joy hasn’t been robbed, and to him, that’s the difference between the living and the dead. If you’re still human, but you’re letting your joy be taken away from you, you might as well be one of those mindless creatures walking all over. So to him, it’s kind of a weird philosophy of life that he’s developed living in this apocalypse that you don’t let this world turn you into something that you’re not.
Elsewhere of The Walking Dead Season 7, we know that new series regulars include Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan), Austin Amelio (Dwight), Tom Payne (Jesus) and Xander Berkeley (Gregory). Season 7 has also gone to great lengths to conceal Negan’s final victim, shooting death scenes with all of the main cast.
The Walking Dead is likely to keep this shell game going all through its fall 2016 premiere, but what do we make of Season 7 so far?
