Parting Shot: Wilco Makes Their Latest Music Video a Popeye Cartoon

Long-time indie band Wilco has produced an all-new Popeye cartoon in old-school style for their new single, "Dawned On Me," wherein black and white versions of the rockers play some mellow grooves while an animated Jeff Tweedy sways ever-so-slightly from side to side in front of a microphone. Thanks to a deal worked out with King Features Media, the characters Popeye, Olive Oyl, Bluto, and Swee' Pea actually appear in the video, emerging inexplicably from a tin can and rocking out on a dock in tribute to the original Fleischer Brothers cartoons. The website for the video -- Wilcospinach.com -- also includes original comics by Frank Caruso and Ned Sontagg. [Via The Beat]
