Although he was on the set of X-Men: Apocalypse, we won’t be seeing Patrick Stewart’s elder Professor X in Bryan Singer’s upcoming sequel. But there is good news for fans of Sir Pat Stew, as the actor has revealed that Charles Xavier will reunite with his old pal Logan for The Wolverine 2.

In an interview with Collider, Stewart was asked about future Professor X appearances, to which he replied:

There is a project in development. I understand that Professor Xavier will be making more than an appearance, however, and that intrigues me.

So we know it won’t be a simple cameo, which is great news. Stewart previously teased the possibility back in February, although it wasn’t nearly official back then. Hugh Jackman didn’t really discuss the new Wolverine film at Comic-Con, though he did say he had three words for the fans: Old Man Logan — referring, of course, to the Mark Millar-penned Wolverine arc. Stewart went on to reference this in the interview:

And the idea of an old Wolverine – I’m really looking forward to Hugh Jackman getting old. You know, damn him. He looks so great! So I’m hoping to see him covered in prosthetics, you know? And then he’ll make me look better if that’s the case.

Yeah, it’s about time we saw that horribly good-looking Jackman get old and rough!

So far we know that The Wolverine director James Mangold is returning to helm the sequel, which will be Jackman’s final outing as the character. The Wolverine 2 hits theaters on March 3, 2017.
