As Wonder Woman prepares to head into production this fall, we’re going to start hearing a whole lot more about DC and Warner Bros.’ first woman-fronted solo superhero effort, and the latest casting rumor is quite interesting. WB is reportedly eyeing Sean Bean and Eva Green (aka Green Bean — I just made that up) to play Wonder Woman’s antagonists in the film — yes, antagonists plural.

According to Heroic Hollywood, WB wants both Bean and Green to star opposite Gal Gadot and Chris Pine in Wonder Woman, playing Greek-inspired antagonists from the comic books. Bean would play the role of Ares, the god of war and long-running Wonder Woman villain, while Green would play Circe, an immortal sorceress who has appeared in DC comics since 1959 and whose goal is to completely wipe out the Amazonians.

Previous reports have suggested that at least part of the film will take place on Diana Prince / Wonder Woman’s home of Paradise Island, where the Amazonians have split into warring factions — the Circe role suggests that either the antagonist will play a part in dividing the Amazonian women, or that the story has changed since the earlier report. Another recent rumor suggests that the film takes place during World War I.

Gadot is making her debut as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 25, 2016, before she stars in her very own solo film, scheduled to hit theaters on June 23, 2017. Patty Jenkins is directing the solo film, which also stars Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman’s ally and love interest. The film hits theaters over a year before Marvel finally releases its first woman-fronted solo superhero film, Captain Marvel.
