Though he didn't have any real input in The Wolverine, writer Chris Claremont will get some say in the next movie based on one of his classic X-Men tales: Days of Future Past.

Here's what Claremont told MTV Geek in an interview at Chicago Comic-Con:

I’ve been asked to kind of, maybe be around for a little consultation. I won’t have a lot of input at all, but it’s nice that they asked. I’m looking forward to seeing it on screen. It was fun to write, and fun to see what John Byrne and Terry Austin did, and now we get to see what it’s like on the big screen. So it will be fun.

The writer also says he'd love to cameo in the movie, similar to the one he had in X-Men: The Last Stand, which was loosely based on The Dark Phoenix Saga.

As for The Wolverine, Claremont was really positive about it:

...it may not have been the Wolverine I thought of, but it’s still Wolverine. It was a lot of fun and I’m glad to see these characters having their day in the sun on a bigger stage than in the comics.

X-Men: Days of Future Past, directed by Bryan Singer, opens May 23, 2014.
