And now, I think, we almost have a full team of special agents for Marvel and ABC's upcoming SHIELD TV pilot, as Brett Dalton is added to the cast as (of course) one of the super-spy organization's most deadly operatives.

TV Line had the news that Dalton, a newcomer with minor roles in Army Wives and Blue Bloods under his belt but little else, will play Agent Grant in the Joss Whedon co-written (with Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen) and directed television pilot, a character described as "deadly, precise, and cool under fire - but not so great with the people skills" (Presumably this is the Agent Grant Ward from the casting sides leaked last month).

He'll join the previously announced Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker as Agents Gemma Simmons and Leo Fitz respectively and, of course, Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson on the pilot. Although five core characters seems like enough for a show, we're still missing the announcement of an actress for the role of "Skye," described as a "late-20s woman [who] sounds like a dream: fun, smart, caring and confident - with an ability to get the upper hand by using her wit and charm." Then again, based on the speed of these announcements, we should probably expect Skye to be found within the next few weeks...
