Vin Diesel Thinks a Groot Solo Movie Is ‘Inevitable’ Because Vin Diesel Says So
Groot has proven wildly popular in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, thanks in no small part to the introduction of Baby Groot, and even though Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 doesn’t hit theaters for another four months, he’s already become everyone’s favorite character. And while such intensely beloved characters often work better in slightly smaller doses within an ensemble (like the Guardians movies), Vin Diesel, the number one source for breaking Vin Diesel news, seems to think a solo Groot spinoff is “inevitable.”
Marvel Reveals First ‘Black Panther’ Plot Synopsis as Production Officially Begins
Over the last several months, Black Panther has assembled a killer lineup, with names like Forest Whitaker, Sterling K. Brown and Angela Bassett among the recent names joining Chadwick Boseman— as if we weren’t already excited for T’Challa’s first big screen solo outing. Today, director Ryan Coogler and his amazing ensemble of actors officially started production on Black Panther, and Marvel has delivered the first plot synopsis with some new story details.
Joe Manganiello Shares Blurry New Peek at Batman Villain Deathstroke (Updated)
To celebrate the birthday of DC’s Geoff Johns, Joe Manganiello has shared a new photo of Deathstroke, and it’s…a little blurry. In case you’d forgotten, the actor is playing the Batman villain in Ben Affleck’s solo film, simply titled The Batman — but we might get a peek at the baddie in action a little sooner than that, as Deathstroke is rumored to be making a brief appearance in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Directors Kick Off Production With a Bunch of Trailers (It’s Not What You Think)
It’s a little too early to see any actual trailers for Avengers: Infinity War, especially since today marks the first official day of production for Marvel’s next big crossover event. To celebrate, directing duo Joe and Anthony Russo have shared a sneak peek at a bunch of trailers — but, like, the other kind. As for those other trailers, it’ll probably be another 11 months before the first one arrives.
‘Logan’ Director Confirms R-Rating for ‘Strong Brutal Violence,’ Obviously
It’s been rumored for some time that Hugh Jackman’s big Wolverine farewell might very well receive an R-rating, and the massive success of Deadpool only strengthened that possibility. Up until now, however, it was unclear if Logan would actually hit theaters with an R — not for lack of trying, as both Jackman and director James Mangold have expressed an interest in delivering the red-band goods. And it looks like they’ve done just that.
Peter Dinklage’s New Makeover Offers Clues for His ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Character
As is typically the case when a new actor joins the MCU, there’s been plenty of speculation about who Peter Dinklage might be playing in Avengers: Infinity War. But recent photos of the actor’s new hairdo, of all things, may help narrow those numerous possibilities down to just a couple — unless, of course, Joe and Anthony Russo have come up with something a little less expected.
Donald Trump’s Inauguration Speech Was Totally Lifted From ‘Dark Knight’ Villain Bane
At some point we’re all going to have to stop asking, “Is this real life?! Is this really happening right now?!” The daily proliferation of surreal news headlines will never feel normal (nor should they), but it’s the frequency our country is operating at now, and it will likely continue at this pitch for the next four years, which officially kicked off today. In the latest episode of The Surreal Life, Donald Trump basically plagiarized Bane, Tom Hardy’s mush-mouthed villain from The Dark Knight Rises, in his inauguration speech.
DC Splits ‘Shazam!’ Into Two Films to Accommodate Dwayne Johnson’s Awesomeness
If you smell what The Rock’s been cookin’ (i.e. if you follow him) on social media, then you know that the charismatic and insanely busy actor recently had a very good meeting over at DC about the long-awaited Shazam movie. (No, not like that make-believe ’90s movie.) Apparently, that meeting went so well that the studio has reportedly split the film into two projects — or, more likely, they realized the error in thinking they could just cast Dwayne Johnson as a super-villain in someone else’s movie.
‘Green Lantern Corps’ Enlists Screenwriters David S. Goyer and Justin Rhodes
It’s been quiet on the Green Lantern front for some time now, and though Warner Bros.’ DCEU schedule is already a bit crowded, the studio is reportedly “moving aggressively” on Green Lantern Corps. WB has set Batman v Superman scribe David S. Goyer and screenwriter Justin Rhodes to script the upcoming film, which will feature both Hal Jordan and John Stewart.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Toy Offers a Peek at the New Villain
In the comic-books, she’s been known by several names, including Her, Paragon, Kismet and Ayesha — a supreme being created by a team of scientists who call themselves the Enclave. In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, her name is Ayesha, a formidable new villain played by Elizabeth Debicki. We haven’t gotten a peek at her just yet, but thanks to a promo image for an upcoming line of Funko toys, we now have a slight idea of what Debicki’s MCU villain looks like.
