Joseph Gordon-Levitt Promises There Won’t Be Any Punching in the ‘Sandman’ Movie
Neil Gaiman’s Sandman is one of the great fantasy epics of all time and it’s almost impossible to imagine a film adaptation capturing what makes it so special. A 75-issue comic book series has the time and space to explore obscure nooks and crannies of its world and break into tangents that comment on the greater whole. It’s not a typical story of heroes and villains and there is almost no traditional action. That’s why Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is producing, directing and possibly starring in the film version, has his work cut out for him. At least he’s currently saying the right things.
The Official ‘Batman vs. Superman’ Plot Synopsis Reveals Why the Two Superheroes Are Fighting
The title of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is so detailed that you almost don’t need an official synopsis of any kind. From that collection of words, you can easily extrapolate the following: the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel will fight each other, but it will ultimately lead to them teaming up and forming the Justice League. Anyway, the actual, official synopsis for Zack Snyder’s superhero throwdown has arrived and it confirms everything you expect it to confirm.
Six Minutes of Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’ Will Play Before IMAX Screenings of ‘Jurassic World’
Ant-Man is not the coolest kid at the party that is the summer movie season. In fact, no one knows what to make of him. Sure, he’s related to Avengers: Age of Ultron, but he looks awfully weird and he supposedly has this dark and troubled past. So Ant-Man has to work a little harder to get noticed. He has to be seen by as many people as possible. He has to befriend one of the most popular kids in the room ... and you don’t get much more popular than Jurassic World.
Ron Perlman Wants to Make ‘Hellboy 3’ and He Needs Your Help
Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy was a modest financial success, but it did well enough on home video to warrant a sequel (albeit at a different studio). Unfortunately, the superior Hellboy II: The Golden Army opened the week before The Dark Knight swept the summer of 2008 off its feet and totally dominated the superhero movie conversation. The second movie adventure of Mike Mignola’s wisecracking demon-turned-superhero did okay, but a third movie never materialized a part three looks unlikely to this day. Just don’t tell that to Ron Perlman, who is dead-set on making this series a trilogy and took to social media to enlist fan support.
The ‘Star Wars’ Comic Reveals a Major Secret About Han Solo and Blows the New Canon Wide Open
For lapsed Star Wars fans who have finally begun to forgive this series for its many transgressions, the new canon has been a blessing. Sure, some longtime fans were angry that years worth of novels and comics and video games were wiped away so Disney and Lucasfilm could rebuild this saga from the ground up, but this decision has resulted in a creative renaissance. Marvel’s new Star Wars comics, for example, are nothing short of exceptional and thanks to the new clean slate, the writers and artists involved are pretty much allowed to do whatever the hell they want...
Rumor: Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’ Will Lay the Groundwork For the New Spider-Man
By now, everyone is familiar with the interconnectedness of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how every film references what came before and what’s arriving next. So it makes sense that Ant-Man, the riskiest Marvel endeavor yet, will supposedly be filled with references to one of Marvel Studios’ surest things: the new Spider-Man. We guess the bug-themed superheroes have to stick together, huh?
‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2’ First Look: Bebop, Rocksteady, and the New Shredder!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is knee-deep into production and like every film that dares shoot on public streets, it has been the victim of set photos. Lots and lots of set photos. The latest batch of images reveal some characters who should be familiar to fans, albeit in newly revised forms. Are you ready for your first clear look at the villainous trio of Shredder, Bebop and Rocksteady? Of course you are. You clicked on this article for a reason. Presumably.
‘Suicide Squad’ Set Footage Features Batman Car-Surfing on the Joker’s Ride
At this point, we’re going to see the entirety of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad through footage filmed by civilians with iPhones before we even get to the first trailer. The latest batch of videos confirm a rumor that’s been circulating for months – yes, Ben Affleck’s Batman will play in a role in the film and from the looks of things, it will probably be far more than a “blink and you’ll miss him” cameo.
Channing Tatum Says ‘Gambit’ Will Be an Unconventional Origin Story
Yes, Channing Tatum is still planning to make that Gambit movie. He just needs a finished screenplay. And a director. And an angle that helps us forget that Gambit is one of the lamest X-Men to ever achieve inexplicable popularity. (Note: This is not the position of the editor of ComicsAlliance. Gambit is awesome.) Casting the intensely likable and charismatic Tatum goes a long away toward achieving that last goal, and in a new interview, the Magic Mike and 21 Jump Street star revealed that the first draft of the script has been turned in ... and that the movie will be an origin story, albeit one that won’t play by the normal superhero movie rules.
5 Things the ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Prequel Comic Reveals About the Wasteland
Mad Max: Fury Road takes place in a world so full of detail and imagination that it shouldn’t come as a surprise to learn that director George Miller has a backstory for just about everything on screen. In the finished film, everything feels like it has a history. Every corner of every frame is alive.
Rather than confine this information to his imagination, Miller has put it in a comic book.
