Marvel Studios released this week the first theatrical trailer for The Avengers, the superhero movie event that we've been waiting for in earnest since 2008's Iron Man. Cut to the appropriately titled Nine Inch Nails single "We're In This Together," the trailer depicts with flashy style the assemblage of heroes (and villains!) seen in previous Marvel movies like Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 1-2 and Captain America: The First Avenger. Naturally, Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury takes command of the team, whose members don't necessarily get along.

You can check the Avengers trailer out after the cut.

Directed by Joss Whedon and starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson, The Avengers opens in Summer 2012.
