Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is out later this year, and naturally Marvel is ramping up its related content to match with a new ongoing series for the team, a new Rocket Racoon title and now, Groot's very first solo ongoing. This May, Christopher Hastings and Flaviano launch I Am Groot, which sees everyone's favorite tree-alien space-hero stuck in his diminutive baby form and stranded on a planet without any of his Guardian colleagues and no-one who understands him.

The series was announced today at the annual ComicsPro meeting, and ComicBook.com has an interview with Hastings where he discusses his plans for the book and his approach to writing a character with a limited vocabulary, comparing Groot to Link from The Legend of Zelda. While Groot's new status quo does resemble that of the film, it does seem that --- in the comics at least --- he is not actually a baby, just stuck in his seedling form, so it'll be interesting to see how he deals with being caught at such a disadvantage without his friends or abilities to help him.
