For the past few months, Logan has released a series of black and white photos that tease fragments of the new mutant-free world inhabited by Wolverine and Charles Xavier. Few writers are as inextricably linked to one comics property as Chris Claremont with X-Men. It's understandable why, since he also wrote more X-Men comics than anyone else has even come close to. In addition to a mindblowing 16-year run on Uncanny X-Men, he also wrote New Mutants, Excalibur, Wolverine, and other ancillary X-books. He not only defined the X-Men, pretty much forever, he changed comics with his emphasis on character development, melodrama, and long-game storytelling.

Marvel’s The Inhumans TV series made clear at the moment of its announcement that the new IMAX-shot story wouldn’t use Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as a basis for spinoff, though it remains an open question if the two series might share any mythology in common. At the very least, we know the new Marvel series won’t utilize the same VFX as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., perhaps creating a different look.

The latest image shakes things up a bit, offering a full-color sneak peek at Old Man Logan and his new friend, a young mutant named Laura, or, as she’s known to comic-book fans, X-23.
