It's not often that we get a chance to talk about movie posters here at ComicsAlliance, but every now and then, something like James Rheem Davis's awesome rendition of "Lightning Swords of Death" (AKA "Shogun Assassin 2," AKA "Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart to Hades") comes along that's just too awesome to pass up:

Davis's awesome poster was created for Cinema Overdrive, a monthly film series in Raleigh, North Carolina that specializes in screening 35mm prints of what they call "the audacious, the ludicrous and the flat out ridiculous," with an emphasis on exploitation cinema.

What's more, for every screening, the organizers commission an artist to create a new poster for the movie that they sell as a print, and while they sadly didn't start doing this until after their debut screening of Roger Corman's classic "Death Race 2000," the end results are pretty awesome. Check out a few of my favorites:
"The Evil Dead" by Danny Miller

"Vice Squad" by Danny Miller

"Cut Throats Nine" by Laurie Shipley

"The Big Lebowski" by James Rheem Davis (done for the annual Cool Classics "Lebowski" screening)

"The Monster Squad" by Danny Miller

"The Deadly Spawn" by Danny Miller

If you like the posters but don't live in the Raleigh area, don't fret: Cinema Overdrive offers the prints for sale online, although a few of them (like the awesome "Lightning Swords of Death"), are sold out.
