Cheerio, the New ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ Poster Officially Confirms Colin Firth’s Return
Cheerio and cor blimey! Today brings a right proper new poster for Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and it’s lookin’ a bit cheeky, innit? Makes you wanna round up the lads, and head down to the pub for a bit of tea and crumpe— I’m sorry, I can’t keep this up. I’ve never been to Britain. I don’t even know what any of that means, I just know they said it on Skins.
But yeah, there’s a new poster for the sequel to Kingsman, 2015’s adaptation of the Matthew Vaughn graphic novel about a high-class espionage society in Old Blighty. The poster doesn‘t say a whole lot about the new film, which sends our boy Eggsy (Taron Egerton) to our American shores to join forces with the North American counterpart of Kingsman known as Statesman. The poster lists the cast — a varied lineup including Julianne Moore as the new baddie, Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, and Jeff Bridges as staff at the Statesman headquarters, and Elton John in there somewhere. The poster also officially confirms Colin Firth‘s return, despite having been murdered halfway through the first film — and shows close-ups of two figures.
Who those two figures are supposed to be isn’t completely clear, however. Is the bloke in the immaculately tailored pinstripe suit supposed to be Eggsy, fully embracing his high-class new life, while the denim-clad figure represents a cruder American cousin? Or do the pinstripes belong to the urbane Firth, while Egerton rocks the Canadian tuxedo to denote his rough-and-tumble upbringing? And what’s that other baton-looking thing the figure at right is holding along with the length of rope? For such a minimal poster, mysteries abound. Here’s the film’s new official synopsis:
In Kingsman: The Golden Circle, our heroes face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both founded. In a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that’s becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy…
Kingsman: The Golden Circle hits theaters September 29.
