The comiXology website is already known for its electronic pull list capabilities, but will now be expanding its functionality on the iPhone and iPod Touch with a new app that allows users to not only look at comic book titles, but purchase, store and read them.

The "Comics by comiXology" app was announced this week at Comic-Con, joining lite and regular versions of Comixology's comic book organization software in the iTunes store.

Retailing for $0.99, the app currently contains purchasable comics as well as free comics including Scott Wegener and Brian Clevinger's "Atomic Robo" and Fred Van Lente and Ryan Dunlavey's "Action Philosophers: Ayn Rand."

The interface is similar to Apple's own App store on the iPhone, pretty much negating the learning curve for new users, and new comics save within the application itself rather than taking up extra space like individual, single-issue apps.
