Uneasy Arrangements For Swamp Thing And Constantine In ‘The Hellblazer’ #2 [Exclusive Preview]
It's like the late '80s all over again: John Constantine and Swamp Thing are lurking in the dark corner of the DC Universe, rather than a walled-off Vertigo, and the two of them are all wrapped up in each other's lives. That's where we find ourselves in The Hellblazer #2, written by Simon Oliver with art by Moritat.
Swamp Thing is in a bad state since he broke up with Abby, and of course John can't resist getting involved in that kind of intensely personal situation, especially when it involves a vastly powerful elemental or two. But of course, John can't mess with just one relationship at a time. He's also having a negative effect on the household of his longtime BFF and sidekick Chas, by overstaying his welcome as a houseguest. And specifically, in this issue, by overstaying his welcome in the bathroom.
Moritat's art in this preview is gorgeous, giving the Swamp Thing scene a dreamlike, almost psychedelic feel, which contrasts with the sudden switch to Constantine in a dimly lit bathroom, despite the essential style remaining the same.
The Hellblazer #2 is out September 28, and features a variant cover by John Cassaday with Paul Mounts, in addition to the regular Moritat cover.
Here's the official synopsis from DC:
