In last month's "Captain America # 600" Marvel finally revealed the scenario that could reunite Steve Rogers with the land of the living. Now, on the eve of the original super soldier's return in "Captain America Reborn #1," Marvel.com has released an eight-page extra expanding on the mysterious circumstances behind Rogers' supposed demise.

"Captain America: Prelude," by Ed Brubaker, Bryan Hitch and Butch Guice follows Sin, the daughter of Cap nemesis Red Skull, as she's interrogated by H.A.M.M.E.R. agents and Norman Osborn regarding her involvement in the death of Steve Rogers. Needless to say, things don't go smoothly on either side of the conversation.

Roger's return has been a subject of some debate among fans, many of whom have warmed up to his former sidekick Bucky taking over as Captain America. With a fan base unwilling to choose a favorite incarnation of Cap, Marvel is in a pretty good position to unfold the next chapter in the sentinel of liberty's story with multiple titles. Of course, with only one flag-colored shield to go around, fans may have to pick a favorite sooner than they think.
