On September 28 Marvel Comics will deliver the latest from the multiple Eisner Award winning team of Eric Shanower and Skottie Young, with the premiere issue of Dorothy & The Wizard In Oz #1. Adapting L. Frank Baum's fourth Oz novel, the series continues to diverge from previous installments with Dorothy, the Wizard and loads of new characters characters stuck in a bizarre underground world populated by vegetable people, invisible bears, wooden gargoyles, dragons and more. It's exactly the kind of story fans have learned to count on Oz veterans Shanower and Young to transform Baum's original texts into vivid page after vivid page of comic book goodness. Marvel's provided ComicsAlliance with an exclusive first look at select unlettered pages from the issue, which you can discover after the jump. From Marvel's official solicitation info:

The great 1906 San Francisco earthquake swallows Dorothy alive-no kidding! It also swallows Dorothy's kitten Eureka, Dorothy's cousin Zeb, and his horse Jim. They're trapped underground in a strange land of glass where everyone can walk on air. Time for the Wizard of Oz to come to the rescue!
