Free Comic Book Day Goes All-Ages & Licensed in 2011
Diamond Comic Distributors has announced the lineup of heavily printed and widely distributed Gold Sponsor books for next year's Free Comic Book Day, which will be the tenth anniversary of the event designed to attract new customers to comic book stores. 2011's Gold books are largely all-ages material and overwhelmingly licensed from extra-comics media. Titles include Avatar: The Last Airbender, Darkwing Duck, Betty and Veronica, Kung Fu Panda, The Dark Crystal and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. IDW Publishing puts forth a Locke & Key book while Image teases a "kid-friendly" title from Robert Kirkman (no artwork at this time). Marvel will offer a free Spider-Man book, while DC Comics' book is advertised as being "a special top secret project too big to announce."
A complete listing of free comics can be found in the January edition of Diamond's Previews catalog, which goes on sale December 29. For a look at the cover art for 2011's Gold Sponsor books, just click after the jump.Ape Entertainment
